Key Information

St Peter’s is a Catholic school with a strong Christian ethos which underpins all we do.

We are also an Academy, jointly sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth and the De La Salle Order — an international organisation which has been running schools for over 300 years. It is run under the trusteeship of a Catholic Teaching Order, the De La Salle Brothers, and the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth.

St Peter’s is an all-through school located in two sites. The Primary phase is based in Holdenhurst Avenue, Iford and the Secondary and Sixth Form in St Catherine’s Road, Southbourne. Each site has a full set of facilities and extensive playing fields. Our Iford site also hosts a large hall, small chapel, sports hall and dedicated art, music and DT rooms. At our Southbourne site, in addition to the provision of science laboratories, library, workshops, art and music rooms, dance and drama studios, there is also a chapel, sports hall with a climbing wall and a professional theatre. Today there are more than 1900 students on roll.

The school has a tradition of success, oversubscribed every year and benefitting from a deservedly positive reputation in the local community. Relationships with families are affirming and constructive, with parents and carers keen to support the school and their child’s learning.

The School is committed to excellence throughout all its activities, enabling all individuals to achieve their potential. It strives to educate the whole person academically, socially, spiritually, morally and physically. The School seeks to fulfil this commitment through a curriculum based on Christian principles and centred on the needs and aspirations of its students.
