Duke Of Edinburgh Awards 23

This year, we had another strong cohort of students who took up the challenge of completing their Bronze and Silver DofE Awards. The award strives to empower young people; to support them as they learn new skills, overcome obstacles and build confidence and resilience – our students clearly demonstrated this!

The feedback from the instructors & assessors at Land &Wave was extremely complimentary, particularly of our Year 10 Silver participants:

The entire group were a credit to themselves, their parents and the school. Super polite, kind to each other, immaculate with their tents, cooking and really abided by the leave no trace ethos and just generally a lovely bunch of humans. They looked out for one another, and it was a pleasure spending the weekend with them out in nature.

The students supported each other – whether that was with the erection of tents, when blisters appeared or just encouraging their group members to keep going! They also encountered lots of wildlife during their expeditions including horses, lambs and fallow deer.

Now that the expeditions have been completed, it is not all over – the students need to persevere in completing all the other activities – Volunteering, Physical & Skills – and getting their assessor reports uploaded onto eDofE, in order for these to be verified and subsequently receive their award.

Congratulations to you all for your endeavours to date – and huge thanks to Miss Johnson and Mrs Joint for their continued support.
