Hospitality Connect in action

We were incredibly lucky to welcome Silvia, a professional chef from the Marsham Court Hotel, to work with our Year 9 and 10 students.

Silvia helped students develop their pastry-making skills, exploring the techniques and time constraints involved in creating puff pastry. She introduced professional terminology and demonstrated a “cheat” puff pastry method developed by Paul Hollywood, helping students better understand the rubbing-in method and how to achieve short pastry.
 
For our Year 10 students, this also provided access to more advanced laminated pastries using a quicker, more accessible method.
 
This was another fantastic example of the benefits of our partnership through the Hospitality Connect Scheme, and the students thoroughly enjoyed making — and tasting — their delicious bacon turnovers!
