Congratulations to Year 10 student, Iona, for her thought-provoking and beautifully written poem, “What is a poem?” — a reflective piece exploring creativity, freedom, and expression in poetry.

What is a poem?

Words written on a page for all to see?
Intrinsically chosen, as if it was not you but them who selected their own brilliance, their own purpose.
Am I required to rhyme for it to make sense?
Build up letters into castle walls, mighty and unbroken, keeping it from dangers that may not even come, never truly free?
Or is it okay to just…let it be?
