The International School Award celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in international education. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need for life work in today’s world.

St Peter’s international work includes curriculum-linked projects such as slam poetry, community links such as penpal schemes and deep dives into cultural holidays and festivals.

Martin Ridley, International Coordinator, said ‘Our projects have grown thanks to the commitment and dedication of teachers who really want to bring students around the world together. Our penpal scheme linked Year 7 students so they could learn more about each other’s lives, and we continue to support our partner school in South Africa in multiple ways, learning more about each other as we grow together. Our new partnership with the Central Model School in Khanewal, Pakistan, has opened up new opportunities for learning about a markedly different culture and environment and there is unlimited enthusiasm on both sides for learning together.
