Carnegie Medal 26

Students at St Peter’s are invited to take part in the exciting Carnegie Medal Shadowing Scheme 2026, an annual reading event celebrating some of the best new books written for young people. The Carnegie Medal is awarded each year to the author of an outstanding book for children and young adults.
As part of the Shadowing Scheme, students will have the opportunity to read the shortlisted titles, meet in small reading groups to discuss their ideas, and share their opinions about the books. Participants will also be able to vote for their favourite title, joining thousands of students across the country who take part in the programme.
St Peter’s has proudly participated in the Carnegie Medal Shadowing Scheme for twenty-three years, making it an enjoyable and important annual event in the school library. The scheme encourages students to develop a love of reading, think critically about literature, and share their views with other schools.
Students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 are welcome to participate. Anyone interested should visit the library to register before Friday 13 March.
All students who take part in the programme will receive a certificate in recognition of their participation.
Happy reading!
