This award follows months of dedicated work promoting political literacy, democratic participation, and active citizenship both within St Peter’s and across the wider community. Mr Ridley’s achievements include:

• Delivering engaging learning experiences on British democracy for students at St Peter’s and Shea O’Connor School, South Africa

• Supporting a mock election and a range of UK Parliament Week activities with the help of the school librarians

• Facilitating the 5th Wimborne Brownies in running two exciting democracy sessions, including Q&As with a councillor and their local MP

• Creating resources such as a Global School Alliance blog and supporting students in producing a video documentary on Parliament

• Sharing best practice with colleagues and encouraging wider participation in civic education

The Teacher Training Team at UK Parliament praised Mr Ridley’s “incredible commitment” and “inspiring work with students and colleagues.”
