Exploring French Film at the BFI

On Wednesday 12 November 2025, the MFL department offered an enrichment trip for our Year 13 French A Level students.
Travelling to London with Mrs Hueston by school minibus, the group attended a French cinema study day at the BFI Southbank.
The morning session, delivered entirely in French, introduced students to the concepts of the French New Wave and its influence on contemporary French cinema. Through clip-based presentations, they explored key scenes, applied textual analysis, and expanded their understanding of film language and vocabulary.
In the afternoon, students enjoyed a full French screening of La Haine, the film studied as part of the AQA A Level curriculum.
It was an unforgettable and thoroughly enjoyable experience — made even better by the biggest croissant we’ve ever eaten!
