Carnegie Celebration

The library were delighted to welcome our students taking part in this year’s Carnegie Book Group, alongside students and staff from Bournemouth School for Girls and Parkstone Grammar School, for a Carnegie Celebratory Book Buffet.

We were also pleased to welcome Heather Davey, one of this year’s Carnegie judges, who gave a fascinating talk about the shortlisted books and offered an insight into the judging process.

Students then enjoyed the opportunity to discuss their thoughts on each of the eight shortlisted titles with fellow readers from the three schools, while sharing a delicious buffet of snacks—and, of course, books!

After an exciting week of anticipation, the results were finally announced. The Carnegie Medal revealed that the winner of both the Judges’ Award and the Shadowers’ Choice Award was Wolf Siren by Beth O’Brien. This was also the second most popular book among our St Peter’s readers.

Our own St Peter’s Shadowing Group voted The Boy I Love by William Hussey as their favourite book on the shortlist.

A huge thank you to all of our students, from Years 7 to 12, who took part in this year’s Carnegie Shadowing programme. Your enthusiasm, thoughtful discussions and love of reading made the experience such a success.

All the shortlisted books are available to borrow from the library.

Happy reading!
